The Bairactar sire line is valued worldwide for length of neck and level topline. For those reasons and others, the Polish breeders have perpetuated the line, largely thanks to the merit of Amurath Sahib, a gray stallion foaled in 1932. He is the son of Sahiba, an Oaks winner, the first Polish horse to win the Derby, and a producer of race winners; and is the son of 35. Amurath II, a bay stallion foaled at Radautz Stud in Austria and brought to Poland in 1918. Amurath Sahib stood at private studs prior to World War II, Janow-Podlaski during the war and after the war at Klemensow State Stud.
